Starting at the base of Mt. Holyoke (Skinner State Park) in Hadley, MA A SCENIC FUN RUN It's our mini version of the Mt. Washington Road Race, in your own back yard ! The 5K Summit Run starts on Rt 47 just south of Mitch's Marina in Hadley. The first 1.25 miles are relatively flat, and then the course heads up the paved road to the summit of Mt. Holyoke via a series of switchbacks, for a total climb of 800 feet that ends in scenic views in all directions. This year only, due to the construction on the Summit House, the Summit Run will be held as a FUN RUN. We will start in the usual spot (see above) at the usual time (see above). ALL ARE WELCOME !!! All are welcome – NO REGISTRATION FEE. For those of you who in the past may have been too intimidated to race up Mt. Holyoke, this is your opportunity to do the run at a comfortable pace. For those of you who race it every year – knock yourselves out !! But keep in mind, there will be no official timing, no prizes, and no food/water available at the summit. There are a few porta-potties at the summit, and we will have some water available at the base of the mountain (at the start area). Also, there is minimal parking at the top (due to the construction) and there will be NO transportation back down. But then, running up AND back down would be a great 10K tune-up for those of us running the Mt. Toby Race on October 21….. No need to register – just show up ready to start at 9:30 a.m. Questions?
