Back by Popular Demand: SMAC Track Workouts Begin in June SMAC will again be hosting weekly track workouts at Deerfield Academy on Wednesday evenings from June through August. The workouts begin with an easy warm-up run on the dirt road or out through the grassy athletic fields. There are three levels of workouts on any night, so you can pick the workout that best matches your fitness level. The workouts will increase gradually in duration and intensity. Some runners shy away from track work because they think the workouts will be too difficult, or that they will get injured by running fast. In fact you will become stronger and faster. All levels of runners are welcome. Just bring a positive attitude, a willingness to work hard, and a refusal to whine. You’ll fit right in. We have a great group of runners -- some who have been doing these workouts for years. On hot days there is the optional dip in the nearby Deerfield River , followed by post-race refreshments at Mesa Verde in Greenfield . If you have any questions, email Barry Auskern at bernardston@comcast.net.
