Weekly SMAC Mile Challenge

Weekly SMAC Mile Challenge

It may be quite some time before we go back to running the races we love. For those among you who are missing the ‘spice’ of going fast and pushing it, the SMAC Training & Racing committee presents the weekly SMAC Mile Challenge.
How it works: you run a fast mile, once a week, in a place and time of your choosing. You then send your result (by 7pm each Sunday night) to John Reino: jreino11@comcast.net. John then sends the completed results to me, and I’ll share them on FB and e-mail SMAC runners.
The challenge is free, open to all members, and you don’t have to do it every week, just as often as you like. The main goal is for us to stay motivated, and have a benchmark run to measure fitness (when there are no races, many people don’t know what shape they’re in). You can track your progress week to week. With a warm-up and cool-down, the mile challenge can be done in as little as 30 minutes.
We hope this can be a fun way to stay in shape and be connected with others during this difficult time. We can’t wait to hear from you!
