Boston Marathon Invitational Entries

Do you want to run the Boston Marathon?

Each year the Boston Athletic Association (BAA) awards SMAC Invitational Entries for the Boston Marathon that we distribute by random drawing to active members who have volunteered at SMAC Races during the year. 

SMAC hopes to receive three Invitation Boston Marathon Entries for 2026.

Race date is April 20, 2026.

Please note: these are bypasses to the qualification requirement. You will still have to pay the estimated $375 entry fee.

Eligibility

You must meet all of the following conditions to be eligible:

• You have been a paid member of the club for at least 7 months leading up to the drawing, AND
• You reside in the Western Massachusetts area or within the New England region, subject to approval by the SMAC Board of Directors* AND
• You have volunteered for at least one SMAC race (or volunteered at the Boston Marathon as a representative of SMAC) in the year leading up to the drawing.
• You fill out and submit the entry form below by Friday, December 19th at 6:00 PM. Late entries will not be accepted.
  

  *This policy is intended to be inclusive of members from neighboring states while preserving SMAC’s identity as a local running club.

Eligible races include:

• Ron Hebert Race 8 Miler
• Ray Willis Race 5K X-Country
• Summit Run 5K
• Northampton 5k Cross Country Races (counts as one ticket)
• New England Green River Marathon
• Volunteering at Winter Youth Track
• Leading a SMAC Group Run
• Volunteering at the Boston Marathon on behalf of SMAC also counts!

Each eligible entrant will be assigned one ticket for each official SMAC club race they volunteered in.

Tickets will be drawn at the Annual Meeting (January 4, 2026). You do not have to be present to win.

• Tickets will  be drawn until all the Boston Marathon invitational entries have been assigned.
• Remaining tickets will be drawn in order to create a wait list. Those on the waiting list are encouraged to train.

Important Information

• If your name is chosen, you are responsible for paying the invitational entry fee to the BAA. The estimated fee for the Boston Marathon invitational entry is $375.
• If you win, we will contact you with entry details. You will have 48 hours to respond to us, otherwise we will offer the entry to the next person on the list.
• If you can’t run, please let us know ASAP so we can go to the next person on the waiting list
